I have joined the export business

Hi, Dave here.

Dear friends and followers, due to the fact that my assistant Ms J is currently very busy doing some crafting and other stuff, I will not update this journal for quite a while. Maybe I’ll return some time later when things are running smoothly.

My Diary posts will remain here, but we have exported most of my other posts to The Boudoir and Jule’s Olde Arte Blogge where you still can enjoy them.

But you’re not getting rid of me. I will be guest posting on my assistant’s blogs whenever possible.

See you elsewhere

DAVE

Dave’s Diary – March

March 1
Created new bouquet from some fancy tulips, Baby’s Breath and blueberry twigs.
March 2
More sewing on mini-quilt and a secret patchwork project.
March 3
Mini-quilt finished and knitting on neckpieces done. Found some forgotten fabrics just beneath the strips – three sets of seven samples each in three colourways. Looks like some art-y stuff can come out of this.
March 4
Assistant brought home some really great fabrics from store. Made her buy some green batiks for something I’ve got in mind. She also finished the top for one of her secret projects.
March 8
Arnold’s ‘Shirts’ top is almost finished, too. And Ms J did some more basting on the found squares project.
March 9
After finishing top, some knitting and crochet on new coral. My assistant chose some fabrics for my new green project. And then worked again on one of the secret projects. Took my chance to borrow her computer to make some art.
March 10
Ms J closed her Low German photoblog and put up a new one. She was very upset because of someone always linking to Facebook against her wish. One new follower after posting the first picture – cool.
March 12
Can’t wait to get my green project on the way. Hoping for the weekend to get my assistant starting this.
March 15
Somehow my green project is put on hold. My assistant is totally hooked on creating new UFOs with her sewing machine.
March 16
Ms J finished yesterday’s top and made another little piece from scraps.
March 17
And another one started. What is this about?
March 22
Ripping the secret project apart is done now. And only one colour to baste of another secret project.
March 23
Finally the green fabric for my own project has been washed and ironed. Some knitting on various things was also crossed off the list.
March 24
Obviously, the freshly washed fabrics inspired another test project. At least, I’ve finally got my cool scarf. Still need my jacket.
March 28
Super simple scarf finished after a couple of evening’s knitting. Needs to have ends woven in.
March 29
Blocks for new project are sewn and pressed and layout is done.
March 31
Set photoblog to ‘private’. My assistant has launched her own now (not the Low German one, that didn’t work). I’ve added the link to the sidebar.

Dave’s Diary – February

February 1
Ms J picked up her last un-quilts from a shop were they were on display for a while.
February 2
Assistant is beginning to get paper piles sorted. Alas, this means no crafty things done.
February 3
Yay! Some knitting done!
February 5
What is this ripping an old patchwork top about?
February 10
Seems another top is getting some work done on it.
February 12
UFO lottery ???
February 16
The Breakdance project is finished. And some more cross stitching done.
February 19
Ms J has taken one of the rediscovered projects to her workplace for some basting during lunch breaks.
February 23
Incredible! My assistant is using her sewing machine for a new project.
February 25
The new patchwork top is finished. I still can’t believe it. Must persuade her to make a mini-quilt from leftover scraps.
February 27
Mini-quilt is on the way.

Dave’s Diary – January

January 1
My assistant’s blogs are now online again.
January 3
I’m trying something new on my photo blog. Some series of pictures loosely following a theme.
January 5
After a couple of days of serious work, Ms J has finally finished one of the patchwork tops. Yes!
January 6
Sewing on next top finally continues.
January 12
Two blocks now finished, next two are on the way.
January 15
Two more blocks done. Where there’s a will …
January 16
Assistant started cleaning The Boudoir.
January 19
Have been sneaking over to The Boudoir to get some inspiration. Things finally are getting accessible.
January 21
More cleaning.
January 24
Ms J knitted another wedge for scarf.
January 25
Finally, she has bought the boxes. Assistant is beginnig to fill them with all the stuff lying around. She also did some more patchwork sewing.
January 27
Two more blocks finished, only eight remaining.
January 28
One of the blocks needed a little ripping and re-sewing because of a turned-over part.
January 30
Only seeing a blurry image of my assistant these days as she’s reorganizing the place and moving things from A to B and from B to C. Alas, that means no crafty things done.

Dave’s Diary – December

December 1
Knitting on new neckpiece project.
December 2
Assistant went for a walk to get some pictures for her own photoblog. Real bad weather today, first snowflakes, wind, rain and more.
December 5
It’s been snowing all night. Must send assistant to take pictures.
December 9
Ms J took some ‘snowy’ pictures yesterday and today. Most of them need a little tinkering.
December 12
Who is this Arnold guy?
December 16
Assistant had sore foot due to some ‘-itis’ and was on medication this weekend, being of no use to me.
December 21
A bit of work on my Christmas greetings. Found last year’s Christmas hat. Hehe!
December 25
Some patchwork sewing. But what good is an assistant who’s always off meeting her family for Christmas?
December 29
More patchwork. Only one row left. Go!
December 31
Ms J did finishing touches on her blogs which are supposed to be back online tomorrow.

November 11
Knitting on latest project is making progress. Ring 3 is done and 4 is almost finished. Also some more work on scarf 3 done.
November 12
Assistant was looking for ideas for her art and patchwork blogs. Played around with some stuff.
November 18
Ring 6 of 7 is on its way. Looking forward to Ms J’s two weeks off. Want to get her some things done.
November 19
J is working on new layouts for blogs since yesterday, looks quite strange to me. She also did a lot of cross stitching today.
November 20
Neckpiece is finished. She called it ‘Shiny Seven’ and had George the koala model it. What is this patchwork sewing about?
November 21
More knitting on scarves 3 & 4 and some more sewing.
November 27
Only bits and pieces of several things done during the last days. More work on blogs and a long list of ideas plus some preparing of entries.
November 28
New project – neckpiece inspired by ‘Shiny Seven’. Loads of ideas and sample making.
November 30
Assistant had her hair cut. She looks almost like me now. Plus a pair of ears. He-he!

Dave’s Diary – October

October 2
Some more knitting on scarves 2 and 3. Low German tutorial for scarf 3 is on its way. Needs pictures.
October 3
Public holiday. J spent all day cross-stitching and chosing pics for some additional photoblog treats.
October 6
New pics from walk through city center. Rain, sun, clouds – all there.
October 7
Some interesting pics from walk on other side of the river and old fish market area. Scarf 4 started
October 9
My photoblog is one month old. Lots of likes and some followers. Have got enough pics for one year already. Still keeping J busy chosing photos for new pages. She managed finishing knitting on scarf 2 anyhow. Needs to weave in the ends.
October 13
Assistant took a day off from me and went to see an art quilt exhibition up north. She brought back some nice photos and made some progress on scarf 3 because she had been knitting on the train.
October 14
We chose some prints to be scanned for additional photoblog pages.
October 15
Scarf 4 needs some work this week during J’s lunch breaks.
October 19
Nice sunny and warm weather. J took loads of pictures in the park which is currently under some reconstruction work.
October 20
Tried some collage work.

J did some cross stitching on her DTXS2 project. Still needs a solution for the missing colour.
October 27
Sent J to annual small arts and crafts fair. Got an idea for knitting arty stuff, for decoration only.
October 28
Not much progress made during last week. Just a couple of new ammonites, some stitches on the scarves. J spent some time reading blogs on the internet instead.
October 31
A new knitting project is on the way. Decorative piece for J’s neck.

Dave’s Diary – September

September 1
Hair! I’ve finally got hair. I’m ginger like a squirrel. – J started knitting my baseball bat.
September 2
Bat is done and stuffed firmly. Beware!
September 6
J has made a couple of ammonites. And is still knitting second scarf.
September 7
My jacket is on the way. Finally.
September 9
Set up my own photoblog. Assistant went for a walk and brought home some material. Some more shots from her brother’s garden in the afternoon.
September 10
J was too tired to knit, listened to the newest audio book read by some skinny Scottish bloke instead. I must admit I enjoyed it, too.
September 11
I’ve hidden an Easter egg on my blog. He-he!
Come on J, get on with knitting my jacket!
September 15
J went taking pictures in town. Came home steaming with anger. Someone had mutilated the frog statue in the town pond.
September 16
More photos today from a walk by the river on a sunny day.
September 17
Only slow progress during the last few days on jacket and scarf.
September 22
We tried to get some photos on the market but weren’t allowed to. J went to birthday party and didn’t do crafty things.
September 23
Went with J to art exhibition for some inspiration. Disappointing. Took a walk through the city for more photos for blog. Brought home some good stuff.
September 25
Made assistant begin new scarf I had been designing during the last couple of days. It actually worked!
September 29
Played with J’s digital camera and tried out the built-in filters and effects. Made some psychedelic stuff, he-he. I’ll show you some of them later.

August 1
Need my own blog. Don’t let assistant know.
August 3
Assistant has finished knitting my arms. Made her start t-shirt.
August 5
Had some more work on DTXS2 done. Knitting t-shirt needs some more research.
August 7
Arms! I’ve got arms. And hands. And shoulders. Like a man.
My blog has got already two followers. Wow!
August 8
Tried on my new body after assistant was asleep. YES! I’ve got a face and nerdy glasses. But I’m still bald.
August 10
Found super-duper scarf pattern on Ravelry yesterday (nicked password for assistant’s account). Sent her to yarn store for some great yarn.
August 12
Assistant, Teddy and me went to Botanical Gardens. Brought home some great pics for my new series. Super scarf is already half finished.
August 15
My t-shirt is still lacking sleeves. Scarf is finished. Already got an idea for an alternate version. Browsed internet for new ideas. Don’t forget to send assistant to yarn store on Friday.
August 17
Had great new yarns brought home. New scarf started.
August 21
Scarf is making progress, despite needing some unraveling here or there. Sleeves for t-shirt started. Need to give assistant a kick in the, eh, rear bumper.
August 23
Three wedges for second scarf finished. Have got idea for third scarf already.
August 25
Had J, my assistant, search a pile of magazines for material for paper collages.
August 26
J has been cleaning up almost all weekend. Disappointing, because hardly any craft done.
August 28
My t-shirt’s finished. Wearing it now. J has to re-do my mouth and is picking out stitches. Ouch!
August 30
Only slow progress on second scarf. J unravelled half of fourth wedge because of mistake.
